Kawefunmi Secondary School - Academic Structure

Pupils in each year group receive their lectures in a large well-ventilated classroom, fitted with two large white boards, black chalk board for geometrical constructions and a mobile graph board (for graph work). Each classroom is equipped with lockers for the pupils to keep their books and other items required for academic work.

A class teacher is appointed to take charge of each class for one academic session. There are two opportunities for class teachers to meet formally with their pupils on a weekly basis:
  1. Daily, during registration
  2. Weekly, guidance lessons

A class teacher is responsible for monitoring the academic performance and moral conduct of the pupils so as to make meaningful reports to the principal, school counsellor and parents.

Subject teachers are divided into departments, each being supervised by a Head of Department (HOD). The HODs convene regular department meetings to identify challenges and solutions and also meet the principal as a group and on individual basis.
